TPO Roofing in Johnson, AR
Plan TPO roof repair or replacement around the membrane, the layers below it and the way your Johnson building operates.
TPO roofing for Johnson buildings
TPO is a thermoplastic single-ply roof membrane. Its sheets are joined with heat-welded seams, and the field membrane has to connect to curbs, pipes, drains and the roof perimeter as one weather-resistant assembly.
The membrane is only one part of the project. Insulation, cover board where specified, deck condition and attachment affect how the roof performs. A dry, securely attached assembly with one damaged seam presents a different repair opportunity from a roof with widespread wet insulation or failed attachment.
For an existing roof, we start by identifying the system and the failure. For replacement, we work through the assembly and building constraints before treating thickness or surface color as the whole decision. Tenant entrances, roof access, equipment service and drainage all belong in the scope.

TPO seams, curbs and penetrations
A welded field seam is different from a curb corner or a drain connection. Repairs need to match the existing material and detail.
Seams and local patches
The membrane has to be identified and prepared for a compatible repair. Weathered surfaces may need manufacturer-specified cleaning and preparation before a reliable weld can be made. A smear of general roof cement is not a substitute for the right membrane repair.
Curbs and penetrations
Equipment curbs, pipe boots and corners combine vertical and horizontal surfaces. Wrinkles, open transitions or movement can create entry points. The repair must connect the field membrane to the vertical flashing and termination.
Drains and roof edges
Water has to reach a sound drain or scupper connection. Perimeter attachment and edge metal help keep the assembly secure. Repairing an opening without examining water backup or loosened edges can leave the cause active.
Traffic and later equipment work
Repeated service visits can damage a membrane if access routes and protection are not suited to the roof. Equipment changes may require new flashing work. A roof repair and mechanical-equipment repair can be separate tasks.
What changes a TPO roof project
A TPO scope needs to describe the roof below the sheet as well as the membrane itself.

Johnson TPO roofing FAQs
Can a TPO roof be patched?
Yes, where a compatible repair can be made to sound membrane and a serviceable assembly. The surface must be prepared correctly, and wet or deteriorated layers beneath the defect may require a larger opening.
Can new TPO go over the existing roof?
A recover can be considered only after assessing moisture, attachment, existing layers, support and the applicable system and code requirements. An unsuitable or wet assembly needs more than another layer.
Does a white membrane guarantee lower utility bills?
No. Surface reflectance is only one factor. Insulation, building use, equipment, air leakage and the complete assembly affect energy performance.
Who provides the warranty?
The actual product, installed system and contract determine whether coverage comes from the manufacturer, installer or both. Any enhanced coverage has specific requirements. Keep the actual coverage documents with the roof records so a later concern reaches the right issuer.
